"City Slickers" win at Leongatha

Michael beats Tyler over the line for the win

Chris & Jack were the form riders of the novice events & did 'extremely' well to catch Nicholas who started off 75m in the 1 lap handicap. It was a close race right to the line. Mitchell and Josh rode strongly on the Brunswick Clinic bikes but are looking forward to when the new race bikes arrive for the Caulfield Carnegie Junior Development race day on the 15th March.

Chris and Jack performed strongly in the Novice scratch race taking out 1st and 2nd with Mitchell 3rd. Liam, Rylie, Steven, Michael, Tyler and Patrick all rode well winning and placing in many of the junior events.

KWPT's "city slickers"

Liam told me he was really happy to win $60 (not bad pocket money!), prizes and a voucher to the Pizza Hut which he said made Mum & Dad happy too.

Leongatha race organizers put on some great racing for the Junior and Novice riders. All the children who came to training tonight told me they learn't a lot from the experience.

When asked about the banking on the track little Jack said it was okay until he had to go up high on the banking -passing riders in the handicap…lucky he is a bit of a dare devil at training. I think he actually enjoyed it!

They told me the Warragul riders rode strongly (I’II have to tell them next week that I grew up there and there are plenty of hills to get you strong).

Everyone learnt about riding on their drops and handicap starts. Tonight at training a few of the riders were keen to practise this for next time they race.

A team comprising Liam, Rylie, Steven and a Berwick rider teamed well together to win the U11 Italian Pursuit. The Carnival organizers named their team the “City Slickers” which the kids found amusing. They had done plenty of team racing in training so it was great to see them have success in both the team events.
